tulip’s birth
After working in various other salons, and a short time as a mobile hairdresser, Amy opened Tulip Hair.

three years later
Amy enrolled on the Matrix Colour Masters course. Traveling to Manchester for 10 weeks to learn all about the science behind hair and colour.
She really is a colour geek.

tulip growth
After completing her Colour Masters course, Amy began working for Matrix as an educator, travelling all over the country teaching other hairdressers about Matrix. This meant that the Tulips receive the most up-to-date training on all Matrix products, bonus!

in 2014:
Abi joined the team at our Stourbridge hair salon!

techie tulips!
We went computerised and use Phorest Salon Software to record all our clients colour dates and information. Phorest also sends confirmation and reminder emails. When you’ve left our Stourbridge salon, Phorest will ask you to leave us a rating (we have received a 5* rating award from Phorest every year since!)

in 2015:
Siana also joined the Tulip team as an apprentice!

a Stourbridge hair salon with a difference.
in 2018:
We decided the salon was a bit tired looking, and the big pillar in the middle (do you remember?!) was taking up too much space!

massaging basins:
We knocked it down and replaced it with moveable mirrored styling stations, and had the infamous massaging basins fitted!

cutting the hair
Was a crazy year! Amy had Dexter and went on maternity leave, Covid hit the world and Tulip Hair had a hair cut and became ‘Tulip!’ We had our logo redesigned and freshened it up with a new green theme to echo our green credentials.

your green salon
We’d recycled all our plastic, paper and glass for a while, but our used foil and metal colour tubes were a problem. Enter Green Salon Collective, They help us recycle all our metals, PPE and even your hair!

your green salon
We started stocking Oway, which is a 100% natural, organic and vegan haircare range. All Oway packaging is glass and aluminium so can be infinitely recycled!

in 2022:
Amy and Siana visited Ortoficcina in Italy which is the farm where Oway grow the natural ingredients that go into their products.

fresh (h)air
We finally got air conditioning fitted! Although there is no substitute for opening the door and letting fresh air in, if you’d visited us in 2022 in the heatwave you’ll be thankful!

we have a winner!
Best Customer Experience in the West Midlands; award ceremony in Manchester.

always learning
Amy is continuing to study Trichology – the clinical study of the hair and scalp. She’s been smashing it so far, achieving distinctions in all of her units, and spending every spare minute studying.
This picture is one of her lectures she attended whilst (trying to relax) in India!
She’s looking forward to using her knowledge to help clients with hair loss, scalp and skin concerns.

always improving
Amy passed her second year of Trichology with an 82% pass mark.

..and tulip turned 15!
the tulip service
This year marks our 10th consecutive Phorest Customer Experience Award. What makes this so meaningful is that it’s based entirely on real client reviews after each visit-no judges, just genuine feedback.
To achieve this, salons must consistently maintain ratings of 4 stars or above across a full 12 months, making it a true reflection of the service we continue to deliver every day.

always improving
We are always looking for new ways to improve the salon and your experience. Come with us on the journey to a happy, eco salon!
